During my education at the Breda University of Applied Sciences, I have been working in Sydney (AU) as an account coordinator. This video gives a small insight into my amazing experiences within this beautiful country.
During my education at the Breda University of Applied Sciences, we went to Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff. During our stay, we have produced a live show with Arizona cultures in the spotlights. My role was to operate the camera for the culinary food item and directing the live show. It was amazing and the greatest experience in the television industry so far.
During my first year at Breda University of Applied Sciences, the school I'm currently studying at, I made the short film 'Disturbance'. We made the movie with an incredible team and even got a reward for it. At the end of the project, we won "the best story" nomination at the Breda University of Applied Sciences Film Festival. Winning this award was terrific, but working towards this award was even more exciting. I was involved with creating the story but also with the production and post-production. Next to the film production, we also created an online campaign to promote the movie. If you like, you can read more about this next to the video "Disturbance Marketing campaign".
The Disturbance marketing campaign was a school assignment for my current study at the Breda University of Applied Sciences. Our campaign for promoting 'Disturbance' was directed towards the current social media users with any age. So, a huge target audience. Our goal was to get more people to visit their grandparents instead of "wasting time" on social media. Lonely and isolated elderlies are a big problem in the Netherlands. Sadly, only a few people are aware of this problem.
Via social media, we asked people to live without the internet for one day. A part of our team and some social media users also turned off the internet for a day and made a vlog out of it. Feel free to visit the Disturbance FB to discover a part of the digital social media campaign.
During my second year at the Breda University of Applied Sciences, I produced a mini-documentary about guitar builder Sjak Zwier. We made a video about Sjak Zwier to learn more about making a human interest video. With the team, we did research to possible interesting persons with an exciting story to tell. Sjak Zwier built guitars for fun, and out of his hobby created his job. Building guitars is not a regular job, that is something we found interesting and wanted more knowledge about. He has met a lot of celebrities and is very passionate about his unique job. A perfect person for a human interest video.
One of my most complex challenges when I started as an audiovisual designer. GEA, one of the largest suppliers of process technology for the food industry and for a wide range of other industries. GEA is located in Bergen op Zoom, The Netherlands, and wanted a safety-instruction video about ‘how to behave’ when working with “ammonia”. Together with a graduate student from the Graphic Lyceum, I made this informative, safety video. We started with a small idea, and within the process, we grew to an international project including departments in Belgium, London and Germany.
For my first internship for the Graphic Lyceum in Rotterdam, I went to Shanghai, China. Experience a whole new culture was something I was really excited for. I was curious about the ethics they believe and how they apply those in their industry. During my stay in Shanghai, I bought a scooter and drove across almost every road in Shanghai. I just stopped driving when I saw something impressive, took my camera and made pictures/videos. I made a short movie out of this footage too hopefully bring this experience to others.
After my internship in Shanghai, I got hired at the company named “LUKKIEN”. LUKKIEN is a Dutch company who is active in the media/advertisement industry. I really liked to learn more about directing, so I become a director-assistant. Together with one of the leading directors, I created a lot of commercials. Some of those commercials were already written, but for some of them, we need to come up with our own story. This was what I really liked about being a director, creating a story with a message and produce this story with actors, a crew and of course, a time schedule. Unfortunately, I can not put those commercials on this site because of a cooperating contract I signed with LUKKIEN. For more information, feel free to send me an email to organize a personal event where I can bring those videos on my own laptop.
After my second internship at LUKKIEN, I officially registered my own company, TaraMedia. My first official project for TaraMedia was done after my fantastic placement at LUKKIEN. I got the responsibility of making the “making off” of Phillips U-Grow shoot as an in depended audiovisual designer. I was really excited, and with the experience, I create at my internship, I was really comfortable doing this project.
Travelling is one of my biggest passions, and therefore, I wanted to go to apply for an internship abroad. I always wanted to learn more about Chinese culture and industry, so I choose Shanghai as a destination. I applied for an internship at the fashion company, 16-emeNord. Together with another student from the Graphic Lyceum Rotterdam, I had the responsibility of making pictures and information videos for employees within the company and VIP-members of the brand.
For the Valentine video, we needed to travel to another city near to Shanghai “Hangzhou”. We needed to get the right clothes and actors without any people from the company who could speak English. This was difficult, but with a few google translate movements and some hand-gestures we figured it out. I was inspiring to work with people who did even not know your language. Language is an easy tool to make yourself understood, but there are so much different tools to use that you also can succeed to bring your message to the receiver.
16eme-Nord wants to improve the image of the brand and create more awareness. Therefore, 16eme-Nord organizes impressive fashion shows. 16eme-Nord believes that not only the fashion show will bring attention to the brand. 16eme-Nord thought deeper and wanted the consumer to love the brand. To achieve this goal, 16eme-Nord needs to improve its physical stores. We made instruction videos for the employees who are working in the shops. This movie includes information that the employees need to improve their skills on the working floor.
NLS Leiden, a students’ community located in Leiden, The Netherlands, wanted a promotion video for their Lustrum. Together with a graduate student from the Graphic Lyceum, I made this awareness video regarding their upcoming Lustrum. We created the story along with the student administration of the student community. Overlook their wishes, decide what was possible to make in the amount of time and produced the movie. I really liked to work with people I had never met before and learn from there opinions.
Being sportive and being busy with sports is very important in my life. In the past, I was a member of a hockey club in The Netherlands. At the club, I met the owner of the company “Field and Hockey”. Together we made three videos to bring more awareness to the brand.
With this movie, our objective was to reach as much as possible people of the target group of Field and Hockey. Those people are all locals, those who lived their entire life in the Netherlands. Because Field and Hockey have a broad target group, we choose to let the “Hockey ball,” our protagonist. We allow the hockey ball to travel to visit people who are part of our target group at different places in the Netherlands.
Next to the full campaign, we also want to focus more on the hockey member in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, where the company is located. Therefore, we invited some boys from the first team and made a video about the most intensive part of the hockey game: a Corner!
In the time we produced the two videos above we want to do something special for the loyal consumers of Field And Hockey. We want to give them best wishes in a unique way and create a video full of happiness and recognizable faces.
